Ben is a trial lawyer in Charlotte, North Carolina where he represents individuals and businesses in complex cases. Ben’s peers have consistently recognized him in Best Lawyers and North Carolina Legal Elite.

Ben graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 where he was inducted in the Order of the Old Well. He then graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2010 where he was a Carroll W. and Mary Parks Weathers Scholar and Editor on the Wake Forest Law Review.

He is admitted to practice in all of the state courts in North Carolina, including the Business Court, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in all federal courts in North Carolina, along with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Ben started his career in the Washington DC office of America’s oldest law firm litigating high stakes financial cases.  Before opening Allen Chesson, Ben was a partner at a national law firm that America’s largest companies called on to defend them in their biggest product liability cases. For over a decade at those big firms, Ben learned to litigate and try all kinds of personal injury and commercial disputes at the highest level.

  • Lead trial counsel in winning defense verdict for major online auctioneer in claims based on misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract.
  • Lead trial counsel in winning defense verdict for client in severe personal injury trial.
  • Lead trial counsel in winning defense verdict for multiple clients in automotive liability trial.
  • Lead counsel for manufacturing company in claims to prevent former head of operations and head of sales from using trade secrets to compete against client. Prevailed on two motions for sanctions that resulted default judgment in North Carolina Business Court, which the Supreme Court of North Carolina affirmed on appeal.
  • Lead counsel in winning summary judgment for tractor manufacturer in federal court on all remaining claims after winning a motion to dismiss on the majority of the claims originally asserted.
  • Lead counsel in winning summary judgment for architect in $17 million claim involving over 90 expert and fact depositions.
  • Won motion to dismiss on behalf of major manufacturing client on claims of trade secret misappropriation.
